DRUGS PAYMENT SCHEME (DPS):<\/p>

Under the Drugs Payment Scheme<\/u><\/a>, an individual or family in Ireland should not pay more than \u20ac80 each month for approved prescribed medicines for that person and his or her family. This is not means tested and everyone is entitled to a DPS card.\u00a0 Application forms are available instore.<\/p>

MEDICAL CARD:<\/p>

Medical Card<\/u><\/a>\u00a0holders are entitled to prescription medicines, hospital care and a range of other benefits free of charge or at a lower cost than normal.<\/p>

Most people who get a Medical Card do so because their income is below a certain level.<\/p>

Prescription charges for Medical Card holders;
Over 70’s are \u20ac1 per item capped at a maximum of \u20ac10 per month
Under 70’s are \u20ac1:50 per item capped at a maximum of \u20ac15 per month <\/p>

GP VISIT CARDS:<\/p>

GP Visit Card<\/u><\/a> holders can visit their family doctor for free. You must pay for prescribed drugs, medicines and other health services similar to others who don\u2019t have a Medical Card. However, you are\u00a0entitled to a Drugs Payment Scheme Card if you don\u2019t already have one.<\/p>

FREE GP CARE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 6:<\/p>

With the GP Visit card under 6\u2019s<\/u><\/a> \u00a0your child will get free GP visits, assessments at age 2 and \u00a05 & care for children with asthma. For more info see www.gpvisitcard.ie<\/u><\/a><\/span><\/p>

EUROPEAN HEALTH INSURANCE CARD:<\/p>

The European Health Insurance Card<\/u><\/a> or EHIC (formerly\u00a0the E111 form) allows the holder to access health care services when travelling to or on holiday in another EU or EEA country.<\/p>

Anyone who is living in Ireland or intends to live here for a year can apply for an EHIC.<\/p><\/div><\/section><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

LONG TERM ILLNESS CARDS (LTI):<\/p>

Individuals with certain\u00a0long-term illnesses or disabilities are entitled to apply for\u00a0the Long Term Illness Scheme<\/u><\/a> and will be supplied with a Long Term Illness book. This book allows you to get\u00a0all medicines and\u00a0appliances directly related to the treatment of your illness, free of charge. It\u00a0is not means tested and is separate from the Medical Card Scheme and the GP Visit Card Scheme.<\/p>
