THE TEST PROCESS

You can book a food intolerance test appointment at Reens Millstreet in less than 60 seconds by clicking here. Then just arrive at the appointed time. No need for fasting etc. and let any staff member know you have booked and you will be shown into the private consultation room. The whole testing process takes less than five minutes.
There are four test levels to choose from. 50 foods, 75, 100 and 150+. You can see the different tests, the foods included and the pricing by clicking here
Once you have selected the test level for you we will open a test pack and you can complete and sign the customer details form.
Using a small pin prick device we take a blood sample from your finger. You will barely feel anything. We collect the blood on a swab and it is sealed in a plastic tube. We then label the sample and give you a plaster for your finger. You are then free to go and we send your sample off to the laboratory which takes about two weeks.
We send your pack off to the fully accredited scientific UK laboratory where the blood is tested using the hospital standard method Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (Elisa test). It is a technique used to detect antibodies or infectious agents in a sample.
It analyses IgG antibody reactions to food and drink ingredients. The presence of food-specific IgG antibodies indicates a potential sensitivity to that particular food or drink ingredient.
The method that Lorisian have developed uses an Elisa plate. It has 96 wells and it takes two days to carry out the coating and blocking process. The testing process takes around 2.5 hours to complete. Watch the video for more information by clicking here.
Once we receive your results pack back to the Reens Pharmacy Millstreet we will text you to come in for a review meeting in the Consultation room.
This meeting can take up to 40 minutes where we go through in detail the colour coded results sheet.Red are foods that registered a reaction, yellow are foods that are borderline, you may in time develop a reaction to them and green are foods that showed no reaction and do not pose any issue to you.

What is food intolerance?
Food intolerance is frequently confused with food allergy, and people often think they have an allergy when, in fact, they are suffering from food intolerance.
