WHAT IS DIABETES?
Your body produces Glucose (Sugar) when you digest food.
The blood carries Glucose (Sugar) to all the cells of the body, where it is used as fuel.
A hormone called Insulin from the Pancreas controls the level of Glucose (Sugar) in your blood.
If not enough Insulin is produced or cells become Insulin resistant, then blood Glucose (Sugar) levels become too high.
Diabetes is a condition in which the level of Glucose (Sugar) in the blood is too high.

We provide the service completely free of charge.
Not unless you want to. You can arrive for a test fulfilling any of the three options below and we will read the results accordingly.
No. It is just a screening test. Though a high reading can be a strong indicator. If you have such a result we will advise you to make an appointment to see your GP.
Not really. Most people can’t believe how practically painless the finger prick actually is.
You don’t have to make an appointment, just drop into the pharmacy any time and tell any staff member you would like a Blood Glucose Test.
In just a few seconds the test machine will have a reading from your blood sample.
Non Diabetic results are between 4 and 6 mmol/L before meals and below 8 mmol/L after meals.
